Qualification Requirement

Undergraduate Program:

Be a Solomon Islands Citizen & in Good health both mentally and physically.
Be under age of 25 years.
Grade Twelve (12) with aggregate range of (4-10) for school based.
And or Grade Thirteen (13) with Academic performance of GPA 3.0 (school based) and GPA 3.8 for upgrade students.

Master’s Program:

Be a Solomon Islands Citizen& in Good health both mentally and physically.
Be under age of 35 years.
Able to meet Admission requirements at the Masters level.
Have exceptional Academic Standing.

Doctoral Program:

Be a Solomon Islands Citizen& in Good health both mentally and physically.
Be under age of 40 years.
Able to meet Admission requirements at the Doctoral level.
Have exceptional Academic Standing.

Applicants are required to apply online and submit x2 Certified Photocopies of relevant application documents listed below:

Printed Online Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships after submission of online application
Copy of Passport Home Page: Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of his/her ordinary passport with validity later than March 1, 2025.
High School Certificates (Grade 12 & 13 with certified transcripts)
Academic transcripts & Certificate (Undergraduate Degree with transcripts)
Detailed Study Plan; A minimum of 200 words for undergraduates and 800 plus for postgraduates
Police Clearance Form (issued within 3 months prior to the submission date of the application)
Two recommendation Letters from previous schools for graduate or senior scholar programs
Four (4) Passport size photos
Birth Certificate or NID card (or both)
Current/Valid contact information of Parent/Guardian (separate sheet)
Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English. (The form is attached below.)

Specific Instruction to Apply

To apply online visit “CSC Study in China” website and click “Scholarship Application for Students”at http://www.campuschina.org.Register an account through [CREATE AN ACCOUNT] and login with your account. Click “Edit Personal Details” and finish inputting personal details by filling in all the information, verifying and saving the information. After the completion of this section, return to the previous page by clicking “Finish” and start filling in your application information.

The “Program Category” is: Type A and the “Agency Number” is: 0901. As Program Category and Agency Number are directly matched, application processing authorities will not receive your online application if the program category or agency number are not correct.

When applicants of “Type A” application choose the “Preferences of Institutes”, system will automatically match the available universities according to the selected “Student Category, Preferred teaching language and Major Applying for”. With any inquiry concerning the available majors of each university, please visit the following website: http://www.campuschina.org/universities/index.html

“Catalogue of Discipline Field, First-level Discipline, and Specialty” is available from the “help”, applicants could download the file to identify the relation between Discipline and Major.

Application Deadline

The applications should reach the office no later than COB Wednesday, 31th December, 2025. All applicants must apply online and submit two hard copies of application form. Failure to apply online will automatically disqualify your application. Faxed applications will not be accepted.

Please take note that:

The Under-Graduate program is a FULL Chinese Language study program;
The Foreigner Physical Examination Form will only be completed by the short-listed candidates only and;
All applications need to take China Scholastic Competency Assessment and obtain a valid score report;
If you do not receive any response from MEHRD, SITESA or the Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands after 28th, February 2026 then please consider your application as being unsuccessful.

SOLOMON ISLANDS GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2025-2026

INFORMATION SHEET

The Solomon Islands Government (SIG) scholarship program offers fully funded and Tuition-Only scholarships to assist Solomon Islands citizens to gain valuable knowledge and skills to contribute to the human resource development needs of the country. Scholarship recipients are expected to use their skills and knowledge to actively participate in the economic and social growth and prosperity of Solomon Islands.

1. Type of Scholarships available for 2024

There are two (2) categories of Scholarship choices that you may wish to apply for, are indicate below:

A. Pre-Service Scholarships Category

School based
Skills
Self-funded
Constituency

B. In-Service Scholarships Category

In-service Public Sector
In-Service Private Sector
In-Service Teaching Sector
In-service Open/Closed sector/Partnership Category

2. Pre-Service Sector Scholarship Category

The Pre-service sector scholarships are for applicants who have no prior qualification and are not employed. Applicants who have prior Bachelor’s degree or diploma qualification are not eligible to apply for this category. Those eligible to apply may apply to any of the following sub-categories:

Form 7 School Base and USP Foundation students

School-Based Scholarships are awarded to academically eligible Year 12 (Form 6) and Year 13 (Foundation) school leavers who apply directly for tertiary studies through the Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Plan (SITESP) process. These scholarships are intended for recent or current secondary school graduates who meet the minimum academic criteria and have not yet entered the workforce. Applicants must select from the approved programs of study listed in the SITESP 2026 plan, which are aligned to national priority fields. Selection is based on academic merit, field competitiveness, available spaces and alignment to national needs. School-based awards are highly competitive.

The Pre-Service Self-Sponsored Category

Self-sponsored category is available to self-sponsored applicants who are currently enrolled in 2025 and have completed 1 year in a Bachelor Degree or Diploma with a minimum of 8 courses successfully completed. This category is available to in-country programs and institutions only available in the SITESP2025, and is not applicable for overseas institution.

Skills Development/TVET Scholarship

Skills Development Scholarship are for applicants who have completed a Cert III qualification or are currently enrolled in a Cert III qualification at an approved RTC. Those intending to pursue a Cert IV at SINU must either have completed a Cert III qualification or have completed a Form 6 secondary level.

Preservice (Constituency Category)

Constituency scholarship category is available to all potential applicants of a constituency for in-country institutions. Applicants for this category must follow merit-based selection criteria applicable to all pre-service applicants. Successful applicants will be sent to Members of Parliament for confirmation.

C. In-Service Sector Scholarship Category

In-Service Public Sector Scholarship Category

This scholarship is available to applicants who are currently employed in the public sector. This category is relevant to all employees from Government Ministries who want to pursue further studies: Eligibility criteria includes a completed and signed standard endorsement from a ministerial Training Committee (MTC) and Workforce Training and Development Plan or HRD Plan, a completed CV and qualifications obtained from prior training. Candidate must be 45 years or younger to be eligible for an undergraduate degree, 50 years or younger to be eligible for Master's Degree and for PhD applicants, age limits do not apply.

In-Service Private Sector Scholarship Category

This scholarship is available to applicants who are currently employed in the private sector. This category is relevant to all employees from all private entities, companies, SOE’s who want to pursue further studies. Eligibility criteria includes a completed and signed standard endorsement form from the candidate’s supervisor, a completed CV and qualifications obtained from prior training. Candidate must be 45 years or younger to be eligible for an undergraduate degree, 50 years or younger to be eligible for a Master’s Degree and for PhD applicants, age limits do not apply.

In-Service Teaching Service Scholarship Category

This scholarship is available to current serving teachers who have been teaching in schools and wish to upgrade their professional skills, knowledge and qualifications, subsequent to their initial training. The applicants are expected to complete an online application form, which must be accompanied with a signed endorsement from their respective Education Providers based on the Training Plan submitted to MEHRD and SITESA. Candidate must be 45 years or younger to be eligible for an undergraduate degree, 50 years or younger to be eligible for a Master’s Degree and for PhD applicants, age limits do not apply.

In-Service Open/Closed Category

These scholarships are classified Open and Closed to balance national competitiveness with sector-specific workforce development. In-service Open scholarships are reserved for high-achieving professionals from the public and private sectors who are seeking to pursue postgraduate qualifications, particularly Master’s or PhD programs. These scholarships are only available for specific program of study identified and approved in the SITESP 2026 plan, based on national priority fields and confirmed sector needs. In-service Closed scholarships are reserved for specific or specialised training under formal training partnerships, and are allocated to meet identified priority skills gaps in key sectors.

Important Notes:

SIG Scholarship applications open on Monday 14 July 2025 and close on Sunday 14 September 2025 at 11:59pm local time. All applications must be submitted before the closing time. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

SIG Scholarship online application platform can be accessed at: https://www.sitesa.gov.sb

Eligible applicants given conditional offers MUST meet the requirements of the offer to be awarded Scholarship. Be advised that a conditional offer does not guarantee scholarship award.

A request for change of program is not permitted except for the program shown on the award letter.

If an awardee wishes to change program or institution, he/she will forfeit award and apply in the next scholarship cycle.

The CSC is open for applications between 25 September 2025 and 25 October 2025.

CSC Eligibility Criteria for Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Candidates

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2026
By September 2026, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, OR a second class degree (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)
The CSC would not normally fund a second UK Master’s degree. If you are applying for a second UK Master’s degree, you will need to provide justification as to why you wish to undertake this study
Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
Provide full transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications including to-date transcripts for any qualifications you are currently studying (with certified translations if not in English) – uploaded to the online application system
Provide references from at least two individuals

For PhD candidates only:

NOT be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, at a UK university or in your home country before September/October 2026

Applicants are invited to apply for the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme and are expected to provide the following documents:

All certified copies of the original documents
Copies of the two (2) referees’ reports
Copies of the Supporting Statement from UK Supervisor [Ph.D only]
Certified copies of the original academic transcripts
Two (2) passport size photographs
Certified copies of any special awards(s), prizes, academic publications and sample of work
A certified copy of the relevant degree for Masters
A certified copy of the relevant Master’s degree for PhD candidates only
Admission letter from any of the UK universities listed in the Commonwealth site

AGENCY IMPORTANT NOTES:

Applicants must ensure that they provide all the required documents
Any applicants without the requirements mentioned above will not be considered
Applicants are advised to monitor the progress of their online application to ascertain the status of their application
Successful applicants will be conducted to attend the interview on the date that will be scheduled by the National Scholarship Division
Only successful candidates who chose National Scholarship Division as their Nominating Agency are to attend the interview

Candidates must apply using the CSC’s online application system which can be found on the CSC website. Each scholarship has a ‘How to apply’ section which will have information and guidance on the application process and the link to the online application system. The CSC is unable to accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system or after the closing date.

Welcome to the Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Authority (SITESA) website.

SITESA was established under the SITESA Act which was gazetted in 2019 which provides for the establishment of a statutory authority under the Minister for Education and Human Resources Development.

Under the Act, the strategic aim of the new Authority is to provide leadership and to facilitate higher quality tertiary education and vocational skills delivery designed to meet the future needs of Solomon Islands for a highly skilled and productive workforce.

SITESA has responsibility for implementing the Government’s new Tertiary Education and Skills Policy, Scholarships Policy and National Tertiary Education and Skills Plan. These Policies provide the legal mandate and governing instruments for the management of the tertiary education and skills sector.

SITESA will be responsible for the promotion, planning, capacity development and coordination of the tertiary education and skills sector and ensuring our country has a high quality and internationally respected tertiary system. SITESA manages the implementation of the new national qualifications framework and quality assurance system; regulates and quality assures all tertiary providers and national level course accreditation processes; promotes professional standards across the tertiary skills sector including teaching, capacity building, research and data collection; manages the overall budget for the tertiary education and skills sector, including scholarships, infrastructure grants and funding allocations, incentives and/or purchasing arrangements with national and international education and training providers; ensures budget and performance compliance and is accountable to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and the Office of the Auditor General.
